Are YOU A Bad Mom?

When do you last felt you are a bad mother ? Or when do you feel you are not spending much time with you kids ? This is always a dilemma every parent has to go thru in their parenthood era. You wear lots of hats at different time, a mother, an employee, a wife etc. you ask yourself - are you doing good enough for everyone ?

After a day of hard work, you come home tired and exhausted mentally and physically. All you wish is to declutter your mind, unwind or just sit on the sofa doing nothing. You have few things to be done to prepare for tomorrow. Then your daughter comes to you and asks you, 'Can you read story book for me today ? ' Your mind races to find some excuses. 'MOMMY is tired today. Can I read for you tomorrow ?' The feedback would be either a sulking face or expressionless face.

Thus, I decided to tune my mind, say repeatedly, remind myself to spend quality with my daughter. Be it just 5 minutes of reading a story book. I have turned down her requests to read story book before bed times many times. Even though she calms accepts it but it would make to feel like a very bad mother the next day. Sometimes I wish I can just quit my job and be a stay-at-home parent ? Would that make me happy and contented ?  I can spend more time with my kid? I'm not sure.

As humans we strive to be perfect all the times and we want to reap full benefits out of everything which we know that is not possible at all.  How can you make you child happy ? How can you reverse the feelings of being a bad mother ?

1. Prioritize.  House work can wait. 5 minutes of reading before bedtime is priceless to your child.

2. Think twice before saying 'No' to your child. Explore how to say 'No' without having to say it. Be creative.

3. Put yourself in their shoes to understand how they feel. If you deep dive into their emotions, you will understand why and connect with them better.

A rose made of play dough. Give a child enough time to play and she will amaze you with things she can come up with!
